Baseball Tips
HITTING
Major league hitters, while their stance may be different, all demonstrate a series of fundamentals which they have in common. These are called absolutes.
5 ABSOLUTES OF HITTING
- Stance - comfort and balance
- Stride - front foot 45° - down in time - soft
- Launch Position - hands over back toes
- Rotation - swing path with correct rotation to contact
- Contact - proper alignment at contact with palm up, palm down and back foot pivot
FIELDING
In order to be a complete player, you must be able to execute proper fundamentals while fielding and throwing baseball. Just like hitting, certain fundamentals must be executed to enhance your defensive performance.
5 ABSOLUTES OF FIELDING
- Ready Position - “Right, left, ready”
- Footwork - slow, medium, quick
- Fielding Position - 2 hands out front
- Glove To Hand Transfer - “Massage it in”
- Throwing Mechanics - proper technique will reduce the chance of injury and improve accuracy
PITCHING
An efficient delivery will maximize velocity and execution of all pitches. This will also minimize the chance of arm injury.
